A nail fungus has several traits which identify it. They include: a yellow or cloudy white appearance; a nail so thick it is difficult to clip; a nail which has separated from the nail bed; a nail which is flaky, crumbly, brittle, rough, and chipped; black or white spots which are unable to be cleaned off; an odor is present; small bumpy pus pockets on or around the nail. Any of these symptoms may indicate a fungal infection. It is important to schedule an appointment with your doctor because if this infection is left untreated it could easily contaminate your other nails or result in the loss of that nail. A doctor will prescribe a toenail fungus treatment for you to clear it up.
